Owner: Steve Purdy (Shunpiker Productions)
Name: Phoebe Nesting

Steve photographed his youngest (and only female) cat as she nestled among the pillows on the guest bed. Phoebe the Feisty he sometimes calls her because she holds her own among the older boy cats around there often harassing them. At age 6 she is still so energetic that she runs where ever she goes and always jumps high over the threshold when she goes out. Phoebe lost her tail to an injury when she was young so only has a stump to wag, but does so with aplomb.
Name: Dickens the hunter

His best critter-catcher is this boy Dickens. He was about 4-years-old when Steve followed him into the woods with the camera and telephoto lens to watch him hunt. As Steve was trying to be unobtrusive Dickens just peeked around a tree to see what Steve was doing, so Steve snapped his picture. Dickens has cancer in his jaw now and Steve is about to loose him. But he still insists on sleeping with Steve, usually snuggled into Cathy's face purring his raspy purr and smiling like nothing is wrong.
Name: Jake

Jake is a cat with bad habits. He thinks he ought to be the alpha cat around there so he tries (usually unsuccessfully) to intimidate the other three. He is also the only one who will stick around when Steve has company and is likely to end up in anyone’s lap. Overnight guest will find him in bed with them as well, if they don’t keep the door closed tightly. Everyone loves Jake – except his feline colleagues.
Name: Pensive Pete
His senior cat, Pete, keeps to himself as much as the others will let him. He is the classic, aloof, orange tabby who will allow petting only on his terms. His purr is deep and throaty once Steve gets his motor running. In this photo he is sitting on a woodpile behind Steve's house just watching the chipmunks. Steve said: “I don’t think Pete would ever get himself dirty catching critters”.
